RIP Mr Lee Kuan Yew

March 24, 2015

These numbers mark the date and time of passing our beloved founding father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

This morning, I woke up to messages from people saying that you have left us. Anger rose inside, how dare they utter such words, how could you be gone? I was shocked, disbelieved, but I saw your son, our PM on the news. I watched as he gave his speeches in the 4 main languages, voice strained. My heart ached for him. How he must be hurting inside.

This is my Singapore, our Singapore and we would not be where we are today if you had not dedicated your life to building this country, sacrificing so much on your part. You gave us the courage to stand on our own two feet. You made hard decisions, clearing the path for Singapore to advance and setting the cornerstones for which our country was built on.

You and our fathers before us gave everything, so that we, the next generation could enjoy peace, security and stability - things many of our generation take for granted.

Today, Singapore lives to celebrate her 50th Jubilee, but you are gone. If only we could watch the pride in your eyes as we celebrate the birthday of the young nation to which you have dedicated your entire life to build.

Our founding father, a pioneer, a human.

Thank you Mr Lee Kuan Yew, for all that you have done for our nation. Without you at the fore, Singapore would not be where she is today. Have a good rest, Mr Lee, you can finally be with your beloved wife again.
